This evening at 8 PM, I took an Intro class at the S Factor, a pole dancing/striptease work out consisting of fluid, feminine movement. I went with 4 girls that I perform Vagina Monologues with annually, so we already have a strong bond rooted in female power. As one of the "Vag girls" put it best, this class is a physical embodiment of the emotional/intellectual aspect of the show we perform. It's about loving yourself, loving your body, owning your body, and embracing your womanly self. This class is intended to empower women and reinvigorate one's sexuality.
Upon entering the class, I was really excited. The room was dimly lit by fake candles, and most importantly, THERE WEREN'T ANY MIRRORS. That was a plus. My fear was criticizing my reflection, as I simultaneously tried to gain confidence...that wouldn't work so well...
The intro class consisted of a verbal introduction, warm-up, pole trick, demo, and questions. The introduction was mostly about Sheila's story (Sheila is the founder of S Factor), and then we went around the circle and said our names, etc. The class is usually 6-8 students, which is a nice, intimate size.
I liked the warm-up because the music was very sensual and we were often asked to close our eyes. It was very much about getting in touch with your body. The pole trick was a bit discouraging because there are only 2 poles in the room. This means you have to watch other people attempt the trick, and others have to watch you. If you aren't as naturally talented (ahem...me), it can be slightly disheartening, if, for example, you can't swing around the pole effortlessly like some of the others can.
Lastly, the teacher performed a demo for us, which was basically a mind-blowing pole dance where she went upside down, spun, etc. It was beautiful and sexy and sensual and slow - not typically the words that instantly come to mind when I think of pole-dancing. Afterwards, she asked if we had any questions...but most of us were still awe struck by her acrobatics...so no questions were had.

Overall, I'd say if you are craving some female empowerment and ownership over your body for a night, the intro class is definitely worth the price. The price for more classes, which I am considering, is pretty expensive, and I'm not sure it's worth the money for someone like me who is on a tight budget. Though, building one's confidence should always be at the top of the priority list...Something to think about.
